On a fun tour of the Valley Arts District in Orange, NJ with Fran and Thomy.  Drinks and "dinner" later at the bar...we all agreed the food was much improved over our experience there a couple of years ago!

The Many Faces of a Sunflower

A  black & white photo I took of a sunflower as inspiration, five interpretations using the gel plate monoprint process.  I had just the primary colors of red, yellow, blue & white in acrylic and one flat 1" chinese brush at the class, so it was a fun challenge.

Thanks to a Shutterfly on-line coupon, I was able to create the white coffee mug below as a remembrance of the 5-day art workshop in Peter's Valley, "The Art of the Sketchbook."  Inspired by Ben Johnson's poem, "Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes" and the urging of Picasso to find my "inner child."

Peter's Valley - In Paint & Photos

Had an inspiring time painting and photographing during the "The Art of the Sketchbook" workshop at Peter's Valley - July 27-31, 2012. Was able to attend thanks to friend Barbara who did the driving! Friend, Artist, and Teacher, Lorraine, was wonderful as I've come to expect over the years.
