Bard College - Hessel Museum

The Friends of American Art had a great day trip to Bard College...both the inaugural show at the Hessel Museum, and a tour of architect Frank Gehry's Performing Arts Center. The day began with a delicious lunch at Gigi's Market in Red Hook.

This photo has works by two of my favorite contemporary artists...the light bulb curtain by Felix Gonzalez-Torres and the wall painting by Sol LeWitt.

This next photo is by an artist whose name I forgot to note. It was part of a series in which people were placed in geometric forms...along the arc of a circle, or as in this one, inside a rectangle. What struck me was the similarity of this photo with one I took on the Danube River trip last September. It was a candid shot of someone reading in an alley way. The posture, the brick path, etc. Of course, my photo was a "series" of one...or maybe not. I'll have to go back and look at some of the others. If I had Photoshop, I could dispose of the giant daisy growing out of his head, but I think it's an interesting touch!

I also took some exterior and interior photos of the Frank Gehry designed Peforming Arts Center. Since they are mostly black & white...I'll post them on "Black & White Only." Posted by Picasa

Brandywine, Longwood & Winterthur

Something new...you can imbed a Picasa 2 web album into a blog (I think!) I believe all you need do is click on the album cover to see all the photos. We'll see what happens after this post is published.

Checked it out...and it worked! A lot easier than posting a couple of photos at a time, but I'd really like one of those photostrips or Flickr posts where you can scroll over the photos right on the blog post. Guess I'll have to experiment a little more.

Some observations on the photos...what's missing is the scent of the flowers, the sound of the fountains, and the fine mist of the fog. And of yes, the biggest thrill of all, getting to shake the hands of Andrew Wyeth AND Helga in one of the galleries of the Brandywine. I had to fight the urge to do the tacky tourist thing and ask to take their picture! Another observation..learn digital settings better, and invest in a monopod. That should take care of some of the "artistic" blur!

Cat Napping!

I know...it's the same photo as on my other blog...black & white only, but I'm feeling lazy and besides it's a great photo of "Cat." The original name given to him by my sister when he was young and a lot less mellow is "Little S...t." You can fill in the blanks!

You woke me up because.....???? Posted by Picasa

Resolution Solution

My resolution this year was....don't make any....then you don't break any! Which as Martha says, "it's a good thing," because I would have already broken a few and it's only January 3rd!

Ball Drop Hat 1 A little bit like my New Year's Eve. Ariel, Belle & I watched the Waterford Ball come down at Times Square (on TV, of course), and I opened the split of champagne from the River Cloud. Maybe next year, I'll get in to NYC for the real thing!

Wishing everyone a New Year of Peace, Joy and Good Health!
